A little-known treasure of Italy, Nocino is a liqueur made from green walnuts and sweet spices. Roberta and her mother Giovanna produce this beauty from walnuts grown by farmers they have long-established relationships with, ensuring the best quality possible - vital for a liqueur featuring a single agricultural product. The green walnut husks are steeped for 11 months, pressed, and aged in steel before the addition of sugar, clove, coriander, and Ceylon cinnamon. The resulting liqueur blooms with toasted walnut, cacao, and plush warming spices; the palate is just as lush, with a cozy-sweet finish. Absolutely delicious neat in a chilled glass, though it also makes an indulgent Manhattan or Boulevardier variation (and it does fantastically over vanilla, chocolate, or caramel ice cream!)
