Adega Algueira is a superstar producer in the chronically overlooked Ribiera Sacra, one of the most extreme and unique terroirs in all of Spain. Led by the super passionate father-son team of Fernando and Fabio Algueira, Algueira wines are estate grown and produced in a natural style, using biodynamic practices in the vineyard and spontaneous fermentation in the cellar. All fruit is painstakingly hand-harvested and traditionally crushed.
Cortezada comes from a single vineyard in the Armandi subzone of Ribiera Sacra. Western exposure. The vineyard is situated on a mix of schist, quartz, and gneiss, faces largely West, and is planted with Godello, Albarino and Treixadura. The wine is spontaneously fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged without lees for 6 months before bottling.
