Your Description:
The legend of Kentucky Owl begins with its founding in 1879 as distillery "No. 16." With the rise of Prohibition in the 20th Century, all 250,000 gallons of whiskey were seized and taken to Frankfort under the state's careful watch - until that storehouse went up in literal smoke. Whether the whiskey was lost to the flames or scuttled away by Al Capone to Chicago is up for debate, but the distillery was done in. Until, that is, great-great grandson Dixon Dedman was moved to rekindle his family's centuries-old legacy. Released just in April of 2019, the Confiscated bottling discloses neither its age nor its mash bill, but delivers a phenomenal drink. The nose is delicate and persistent with notes of caramel, rich integrated oak, fresh crusty bread, dark leather, and blackberry. Round on the palate and just as nuanced, with dark woody spices, graham cracker, and dried tobacco. Oak weaves in and out of the finish with orange peel, ancho chile, and cinnamon. A beautifully composed example of Kentucky Bourbon to sip, savor, and enjoy.
