La Capranera is a name synonymous with intentional winemaking in Campania. They produce two native whites and one native red: Aglianico, Campania's crown jewel. What's atypical about this bottling of Aglianico is its fresh character: it sees no oak at all, emphasizing its fruit and inherent structure. The nose is direct with aromas of blackberry, black plum, leather, and dark chocolate. On the palate, it is impactful but medium-bodied. Black fruits are crunchy and tart on the palate, accompanied by notes of spice, dark chocolate, and a subtle hint of smoke thanks to the vineyard's volcanic soils. Naturally high in acid and with energetic tannin, this should be your new go-to alongside rich pasta dishes (white or red sauce!), fattier cuts of pork, or mid- to well-aged cheeses.
