A lip-smacking example of the current trend of wines that straddle the worlds of rosé and red wine, the Ojo Gallo from Fina Torremilanos is a blend of red grapes Tempranillo, Garnacha, Bobal, and Monastrell with white grapes Viura, Albillo and Malvasia. The very embodiment of the "field blend," all varieties are co-fermented in cement and aged in neutral barrels for 8 months. The wine is produced Biodynamically, with no sulfur added at bottling. Aromas of cranberry, wild cherry, scrub herb, and flowers jump from the glass, with a juicy palate offering prickly acidity and a wisp of tannic dryness. Absolutely delicious with a chill, though it can easily be enjoyed as a light red closer to room temperature. Enjoy alongside an array of lighter vegetable dishes, with poultry, or even at brunch!
