While they've released a number of new products since their original Tennessee whiskey, this is the first new mash bill to come out of Jack Daniel's in over 100 years. Led by 70% rye with 18% corn and 12% malted barley, it's noticeably, unusually mellow and rich for all that rye grain. Chocolate, cherry, banana custard, and breakfast pastry open on the nose. The palate is led by banana bread and sweet cinnamon, with baked apples and a slip of chocolate coming through in the finish. An easy rye to sip neat, but at a cocktail-friendly price.
